Campus Missioner - Full Time.
Reporting: The position reports to the Canon for Mission Amplification, who serves on behalf of the Bishop Diocesan.
Summary: The Campus Missioner provides leadership that results in discipleship, vocational discernment, an expanding missional impact on campus culture, increased student participation, and the development of lay and ordained leaders in the Episcopal Church.
Primary Tasks:
1. Develop discipleship and leadership of students and other members of campus
community.
2. Work continuously to build campus community through one-on-one meetings and
support for student evangelism.
3. Facilitate worship and attend to the pastoral and spiritual needs of members of the
community.
4. Be actively attentive to the greater campus mission field and surrounding campus in the area being served.
5. Provide programs for spiritual formation that are accessible and welcoming to all
students regardless of socio-economic background, ethnicity, sexual orientation,
religious affiliation, nationality, physical or mental abilities.
6. Continue to evaluate effectiveness of ministry through metrics and other reporting.
7. Oversee or attend to administrative needs.
8. Work in cooperation with area churches, student leaders, and in collaboration with other campus ministries throughout the Diocese.
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
• Healthy, vibrant spiritual life and a passion for the Gospel
• Ability to communicate the Gospel in ways that are engaging and relevant
• Spiritual maturity, self-awareness, and authenticity
• Deep understanding of Episcopal identity and theology
• Ability to lead through change, organize, and equip others in ministry
• Entrepreneurial leadership
• A willingness and ability to be vocationally flexible
• Ability to develop a good rapport with diverse groups
• Ability to work in collaboration with others
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to use social media tools to promote the ministry
• Certified in Safe Church practices (training will be provided if not current).
Required Education & Experience:
• MDiv or equivalent master’s degree or experiential equivalent
• Demonstrated ability to gather community and start ministry
• Two or more years of leadership experience in ministry
Environment:
Meetings and programs on and around campus
Preaching and/or teaching opportunities in nearby churches
In some areas, administrative work in dedicated Episcopal Student Center
